Story board - plan

Brief Synopsis:

1. The girl aged very young, in a field of daisies. A dreamy effect. Very vivid colours and a variety of different shots to keep the audience engaged. This scene is inspired by Taylor Swifts ‘You Need to Calm Down’ music video, as this included very bright colours, and the lengths of each shot varied constantly.

2. The girl walking through woods - tracking shot to show her moving. (I will make it feel as if the audience is travelling with the girl, and they will therefore stay engaged.) These shots are inspired by The Killers video for ‘Land of the Free’, as this also involves many tracking shots, filmed in a way to provoke emotion.

3. The girl running through fields, and climbing up grassy banks, referencing ‘Heidi’, the novel and film.

4. Another scene in which I will display the natural beauty of the earth, this time the character changes, and is an older girl walking through the forest. It will appear that she has grown up. Varying shots and angles to keep it interesting.

5. Transition to the older girl in a very urban area. I will be filming this in central London. The reading that I expect the audience to have as a result of my editing, is that the girl is upset about the fact that this area was once beautiful woodland, and the pollution that we are now causing in big cities, and how we are damaging the earth. I will film the character noticing different elements such as car exhaust smoke, rubbish and litter, and other people smoking etc… This scene will be dulled down, more filmic affect, to create tone and a clear contrast between the happier scenes. I want to take inspiration from the music video for ‘Land of the Free’ by The Killers.

6. A scene with a variety of shots filmed and edited in a similar way to the Guardian Newspaper ‘Points of View’ advert. This will be some scenes of the girl in the city, then I will transition to her in the woods, as If they are different points of view. Edited to be black and white, and shot with POV.

6. Throughout the scenes filmed in the city, I will insert shorter clips of the girl in the woods and with flowers, to remind the audience of the place that she has come from, and misses.

7. The final scene will be filmed using a drone, I will film the girl from behind, looking out onto a view,  the camera will slowly progress away from the girl, revealing more of a view. I will cut to the same process of filming, but this time she will be looking out into a city, with a much darker sky, presenting the global warming and threat that it has on the environment. This is the idea that the artist Radiohead intended to display.

Characters:

1. Ella Crumbie, my friend to represent a stereotypical modern teenager. She will portray the emotion of sadness towards the destruction of our environment.
2. My sister, Cicely to represent a younger version of Ella. The idea is that she will appear to have grown up with the environment changing.
3. My father, to represent a modern city worker during the scenes filmed in London.
